Our art students at Durhamville Elementary spent the first few weeks of school celebrating The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds with Mrs. Leahey!

Inspired by the beloved children’s book, students learned that creativity doesn’t have to be perfect—and sometimes, all it takes is one small mark to get started. The Dot follows Vashti, a student who believes she “can’t draw,” until her teacher encourages her to simply make a mark and see where it takes her.

Students brought that message to life through their own artwork, exploring creativity, confidence, and the courage to make their mark. What started with a simple dot turned into something uniquely their own!
