Biographies of BOE Candidates

Mrs. Heather Denby:
Heather Denby, of Oneida, has served a five-year term on the Board of Education. Heather graduated from Oneida and attended Seneca Street Elementary School. A 33 year district resident, Heather graduated from Saint Bonaventure University with a B.A. in Spanish and Psychology, and a Philosophy/Pre-Law minor. Heather attended the Middlebury College Spanish Immersion Program, and she earned her Juris Doctor from SUNY Buffalo Law School. Heather currently practices in Oneida as a matrimonial/family law attorney, and is the Vice-President of the Madison County Bar Association. Heather and her husband, Derek, have two children enrolled in the Oneida City School District.

Mr. Shane Todd:
My name is Shane Todd, and I am running for school board because I believe that most parents in our school district want nothing more than their children to be happy and successful, and that they know what is best for them. As a parent of two brilliant girls in the Oneida CSD, I want the parents that share this goal to have a chance not just to speak to the board of education, but to be listened to.
I grew up in Oneida, graduating from Oneida High School and went on to obtain an associate’s degree from SUNY Morrisville in automotive technology. I have worked in various roles in the fields of industrial equipment manufacturing and electrical generation. Currently I work as a System Operator for the electrical distribution system. As a nearly life-long resident of Oneida I would bring a working families / blue collar perspective to the board which I believe is currently underrepresented.
