Welcome To Student Registration
Welcome to Oneida City School District Student Registration!
To register a student, they must meet the age, residency, and public health requirements as outlined by New York State Law.
Important Notes
-
If your child attended the Oneida City School District Pre-K program last year, you do NOT need to re-register them for kindergarten. They are automatically enrolled for the upcoming school year.
-
Families experiencing housing instability or living at a temporary address may still register under the McKinney-Vento Act.
-
Under the McKinney-Vento Act, “homeless children and youth” are individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence. Oneida City School District welcomes and supports students identified as homeless in accordance with federal and state regulations.
-
Registration is not considered complete until all required documentation is submitted. Exception: This requirement does not apply to students identified as homeless under the McKinney-Vento Act.
-
What Happens After I Register?
Once your child’s registration paperwork is complete, the Registration Office will notify the appropriate school building.
The school will then contact you with your child’s start date, bus transportation information, and teacher assignment or class schedule, and can answer any questions before your child begins.
Please note: school buildings are notified only after registration is complete, except for students identified as homeless under the McKinney-Vento Act.

Yes. If you are the custodial parent or guardian—meaning your child lives with you most of the time and you are responsible for their daily care—you should complete a Parent Affidavit. This form helps confirm that your child legally resides with you, even if there are no court-issued custody documents. The affidavit must be notarized and submitted to the Registration Office.
If the child lives with both parents, and both parents are listed on the child’s legal documents (e.g., birth certificate), a Parent Affidavit is not required.
The form is intended to confirm the child’s primary residence.
-
Once registration paperwork is complete, the Registration Office notifies the school building, and the school will contact you with start date, transportation, and class or teacher information.
Parent Portal
Oneida City School District uses Schooltool as its Student Data Management System. The district will be providing parents and legal guardians of students in grades 4-12 access to information in Schooltool through the Parent Portal as a way of encouraging participation in a child’s education and improving communication between students, parents/guardians, and District Staff.
