The majority of colleges prefer that students apply on-line. Many schools have their own applications right on their website. Others use the Common Application (Common App ) or SUNY Application (Suny Education).
If you apply on-line, make sure you tell your school counselor so he/she knows to send your supporting documents.

DON’T PAY FOR THE FAFSA
Several websites offer help filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for a fee. These sites are not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education. The official FAFSA is at www.fafsa.ed.gov, and you can get free help from the financial aid administrator at your college, the FAFSA’s online help, the Federal Student Aid Information Center or 1-800-730-8913.
If you are asked for your credit card information while filling out the FAFSA online, you are not at the official government site.
