OSMS Summer Program students kicked off their first English class with creativity, self-expression, and a focus on building strong literacy skills! Students began by designing their own personalized English cover sheets, adding their names, artwork, and details that showcased their personalities, interests, hobbies, and what makes them unique.

After getting to know themselves as learners, students explored the differences between short stories and novels through an interactive comparison activity. They analyzed characteristics of each type of writing, considering elements such as the number of conflicts, length, and whether a story could be read in one sitting. Through hands-on activities and thoughtful discussion, students strengthened their understanding of literary concepts while building excitement for the reading and writing ahead this summer!
