StoryMaker Camp Inspires Creativity, Collaboration, and Confidence at OSMS
StoryMaker Camp is officially underway at OSMS, with both beginner and advanced beginner groups diving into exciting multimedia storytelling projects!
Students in the advanced beginner group—those who participated in last year's StoryMaker Camp or this year's StoryMaker Club—are creating historical storytelling pieces by researching and bringing influential historical figures to life through engaging digital presentations.
Meanwhile, students in the beginner group are developing original characters and crafting TED Talk-style presentations, transforming their ideas into animated videos.
Throughout the week, campers are strengthening a wide range of skills, including creative writing, script development, voice recording, digital animation, and public speaking. As they work together to plan and produce their projects, students are also building essential life skills such as collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and conflict resolution.
New this year, StoryMaker Camp has expanded to include a dedicated 30-minute Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) block each day. During this time, students explore a different dimension of wellness through interactive lessons and reflect on their experiences with guided journaling activities, helping them build self-awareness, resilience, and healthy habits.
StoryMaker Camp is made possible through the district's Mental Health Grant, providing students with a unique opportunity to develop both creative and personal growth skills in a fun, supportive learning environment.
