A Year-Long Project with a Lasting Impact at Seneca Street!

Students in Mrs. Armlin’s class at Seneca Street Elementary recently celebrated the completion of a very special project they have been working on since the beginning of the school year!
As part of their social studies unit on community service, students were challenged to design and carry out a project that would make a positive difference in their community. After brainstorming ideas, they decided to create a Little Free Library for the Oneida community to enjoy.
From start to finish, this project was truly student-driven. The class worked together to design and sell raffle tickets, raising the funds needed to purchase building materials and books. Through teamwork, creativity, and determination, they turned their idea into reality.
Today, their Little Free Library proudly hangs outside the main entrance of Seneca Street Elementary, where it is available for the entire community to use. Community members are encouraged to stop by, take a book, leave a book, and help keep the joy of reading circulating throughout Oneida.
This project not only promoted literacy, but also taught students valuable lessons about service, leadership, and the impact they can have when they work together toward a common goal.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Armlin and her amazing students for creating such a meaningful resource for our community. Your hard work will inspire readers for years to come!
And a special thank you also goes to our Seneca Street Custodian, Mr. Whitbeck, for building it!
