Celebrating National OT Month

As we continue our celebration of National Occupational Therapy Month, we are highlighting the important and impactful work our Occupational Therapists provide every day throughout the Oneida City School District.
OTR/L Mrs. Lisa Gaudet shares her thoughts on the role and value of school-based occupational therapy:
"OT has you covered! School Based Occupational Therapy is a career that brings a bridge into the schools between the medical world and an understanding of human development, and combines it with educational expectations and challenges.
From fine motor to visual motor to self-regulation to executive functioning… school-based OT supports the skills that help students access their day. It’s never just one thing it’s the whole picture.
I have been an Occupational Therapist for many years, and the students here and the relationships that I have built with them in the Oneida City School District are one of the highlights of my career."
Occupational therapy plays a critical role in supporting students’ ability to fully participate in their school experience. From developing fine and visual motor skills to strengthening self-regulation and executive functioning, our OTs help students build the foundational skills needed for learning, independence, and success in the classroom.
We are grateful for the expertise, dedication, and lasting impact of our Occupational Therapy team and the meaningful relationships they build with students each day.
