Durhamville Elementary recently launched a Purposeful Play Group designed to support student well-being through active and social engagement.

PE Teacher Mr. Blair, School Social Worker Mrs. Thompson, and School Counselor Mrs. Rolewicz collaborated to create this opportunity for students to participate in structured, positive play. Using equipment purchased through the district’s Mental Health Grant, including Gaga Ball and the rock wall, students are able to engage in physical activity while also building social connections.

Purposeful play provides students with an outlet to release energy, practice teamwork, and develop important social-emotional skills in a supportive environment. This initiative helps promote both physical wellness and positive peer relationships.
