Community Update: Continued Progress at Oneida High School

The District continues to make strong progress on flood-related recovery and upgrades at Oneida High School, with multiple project areas moving forward smoothly thanks to ongoing coordination between district staff, contractors, and partner agencies.
Site Work & Drainage Improvements
Crews remain actively engaged in dredging and stormwater rerouting near the tennis courts to improve drainage and reduce future flooding risk. New infrastructure—including piping and manholes—is being installed, with additional pipe replacement identified and scheduled. Curbs are set for installation this month, and basement excavation work supporting electrical upgrades is approximately 75% complete.
Heating & Mechanical Systems
New water heaters have been installed, and circulation pump upgrades are complete. Replacement burners have been delivered, with the goal of bringing heating systems online by early November. These updates will ensure climate controls are restored throughout the building.
Temperature Controls
Technicians are currently testing the building’s temperature control systems and preparing to power and verify all controllers. This coordinated approach will ensure proper communication, system accuracy, and long-term reliability.
Electrical Upgrades
National Grid has been on-site assisting with timely inspections. Underground electrical work and manhole installation are in progress, and the school’s new switchboard is scheduled to arrive in mid-November—another step toward restoring full electrical capacity. Fire alarm panel components are delayed but expected in November.
General Construction & Clean-Up
Notable progress includes completion of fireproofing in the new electrical room, ongoing flooring work, and structural steel reinforcement that will be installed once the space is ready. The district was also able to locate surplus wall tile to seamlessly restore corridor finishes.
Elevator Repairs
Work on the building’s elevator will begin in November, with associated electrical support already underway.
Communications
The District extends its appreciation to all partners, contractors, and staff working diligently to restore and improve the High School’s infrastructure. The progress reflects both teamwork and a strong commitment to student safety, comfort, and educational continuity.
Additional updates will continue to be shared with the community as work advances.
