Meet the awardees:
Mrs. Pamela Vogan Lynch
Pamela Vogan Lynch, “Mrs. Lynch,” is a retired art teacher and art director of Oneida City School District. She was hired by the Oneida City School District in 1976, the year she graduated from St. Lawrence University with a dual major in fine arts and geology. She taught at Otto Shortell until 1993 and then at Oneida High School. Lynch was appointed Director of Art in 1988 and served in that capacity for the next 23 years until her retirement in 2011. During her tenure, she served several art organizations at the local, state, and national levels. In 1997, Lynch was recognized as New York State Section 3 Art Educator of the Year.
Since retirement, Pamela Lynch has devoted much of her time to her own art, participating in and teaching various media workshops and exhibiting her work in galleries throughout the region and beyond. She is a signature member, Gold Medallion honoree, of the Central New York Watercolor Society Board of Directors. Additionally, she has earned signature status in the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, and is active in the Cazenovia Watercolor Society.
Lynch served on the Collections Committee of the Madison County Historical Society. She was a trustee and publicity chair of the Oneida City School District Foundation Board, a board member of the United Way of Greater Oneida, and a member of the Oneida Healthcare Auxiliary. Lynch originated the volunteer curator position for the Jessie Harp Griffing Memorial Gallery at the Kallet Civic Center and organized solo and group exhibits.
She continues to support the Oneida Art Department through advocacy and advisement. In addition, Pam, along with her husband, Richard Lynch, sponsors the annual Oneida High School Outstanding Showpiece Award.
