First of Five P.R.I.D.E Contests

Meet Ethan, winner of the Oneida Art Department's first P.R.I.D.E contest, in a series of five competitions centered around each letter in the word P.R.I.D.E. This week's theme was Patience (P).
Open to all Oneida High School students, participation in the contest does not require an art background. The sole criterion is that entries must embody the theme for the corresponding week.
Ethan creatively approached the theme by depicting impatience. “I knew most people would try to create a piece of someone showing patience, but I wanted to show impatience. So I chose the setting of a waiting room because there is no way to ever feel patient in there." He also appreciated the play on words involved in his concept.
Winning the contest was a gratifying experience for Ethan. “It’s nice my work is displayed for the whole school to see,” he remarked.
An additional incentive for Ethan was receiving a Dunkin' gift card, which was a delightful bonus.
When asked for advice for fellow artists, Ethan encouraged, “I would say for them to make what they want to make and be patient”
