Celebrating School Social Worker, Kristen Nash

This week, we are celebrating each of our fantastic School Social Workers! Today, let's meet Kristen Nash! Keep checking our page throughout the week for special spotlights on all the amazing Social Workers here at OCSD!
Mrs. Kristen Nash is a dedicated School Social Worker who has made a significant impact in the field of education and school social work. Originally from Cazenovia, she is the youngest of five sisters and currently lives in Fayetteville with her husband of 23 years, along with their two sons and daughter.
Educationally, Mrs. Nash is well-prepared for her role. She earned her undergraduate degree from Russell Sage College, where she studied Psychology and Sociology, and later obtained her Master's in Social Work from Syracuse University.
With over two decades of experience, she began her career at Madison-Oneida BOCES, where she supported students in the Oneida, Stockbridge, and Morrisville school districts for 22 years. In a full-circle moment, she returned to Oneida Middle School two years ago, the same place she had dedicated many years to previously, describing it as “coming back home.”
As a School Social Worker, Mrs. Nash addresses emotional barriers that can hinder a student’s social and academic success. She emphasizes the importance of creating a positive and supportive atmosphere throughout the school district. At the middle school level, she finds great fulfillment in helping students develop self-belief and apply the strategies learned during counseling sessions to foster positive changes in their lives.
Building meaningful relationships with students is a priority for Mrs. Nash. She is committed to providing support during tough times and celebrating successes with them when they flourish.
In her personal life, when she is not fulfilling her professional responsibilities, Mrs. Nash enjoys spending time with her family and pets. She is an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking and immersing herself in nature.
