First Week of LEAP for OCSD Students

The first week of our summer LEAP program was extremely successful! Students engaged in mathematics activities, including math stackers and shapes, under the guidance of Mrs. Weaver and Mrs. Schnauffer. In science, with Mrs. Bradley and Mr. Weaver, participants created sun catchers and conducted exciting experiments related to catapult building and motion dynamics, utilizing school hallways and various-sized balls.
We took full advantage of the beautiful weather, spending a significant amount of time outdoors. A scavenger hunt led by Ms. D’Arcangelis added to the fun, and in physical education, Coach Beeler introduced students to the game of four square. It’s wonderful to learn new games that can be enjoyed at home with family and friends. Fresh air and exercise not only sharpen the mind and enhance physical health but also elevate the overall mood of all participants.
On Thursday, we had the honor of a special guest appearance. LEAP participants and staff had the opportunity to meet and learn about Todz the Bloodhound. New York State Trooper Kevin Conners provided an informative presentation on Todz's role as an assistant in search and rescue operations and highlighted the skills that make him an invaluable asset in tracking down individuals in need. We extend our gratitude to Mrs. Bradley for coordinating Trooper Conners and Todz’s visit.
After a fantastic first week, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming week filled with more fun and learning for our LEAP students!
