8th Graders Explore Nature on Exciting Field Trip to Black River Outdoor Education Program

Mrs. Anile organized an incredible educational field trip for 8th-grade students to the Black River Outdoor Education Program (BROEP) in Boonville, NY!
During the trip, students engaged in a variety of activities, including kayaking, biking, and hiking. Not only did they have a fun time, but they also gained valuable insights into the local environment. The students learned about various ecosystems, observed wildlife such as turtles and bald eagles, and experienced the joys of outdoor adventures without the distraction of technology.
BROEP focuses on fostering an appreciation and understanding of the environment through educational lessons in geology, ecology, biology, and history. By participating in these interactive outdoor activities, students gain hands-on experience that reinforces classroom learning.
The organization aims to highlight the importance of outdoor recreation and the benefits it brings to individuals and communities. Their goal is to inspire a new generation of environmental stewards who appreciate and protect the natural world, fostering a lifelong love for the outdoors that will last from youth into adulthood. Through these experiences, students are not only educated about nature but also encouraged to develop a deeper connection with it.
OCSD expresses gratitude to BROEP for this amazing experience! Our guides during this trip were truly exceptional!
