OCSD Designated a BCME for Tenth Year in a Row

Dear Oneida CSD Community,
For the tenth year in a row, the Oneida City School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for our outstanding support and commitment to music education.
Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to Districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students.
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, OCSD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by WolfBrown, a leading arts educational research firm.
We could not be prouder of our exceptional music department, which consistently showcases the dedication and talent of our students. Each individual has demonstrated remarkable skill and creativity, contributing to this recognition. Your hard work and passion are truly commendable, and you are an inspiration to us all.
K-12 Director of Music, Mrs. Hawthorne, adds:
“I am extremely proud of the music program here in Oneida. Our teachers are not only high-quality musicians but also dedicated educators who inspire and challenge our students every day. In turn, our students work hard, showing passion, discipline, and a love for music that shines through in every performance.”
“We are fortunate to have overwhelming community support for music in Oneida. It truly takes all of us — students, teachers, families, administration, Board of Education, and community members — to build a program worthy of recognition. Together, we create an environment where music is cherished, performed, listened to, and expressed with joy. Through music, we are all connected.”
Congratulations once again! #GoExpress
Warm Regards,
Matthew Carpenter
