Eighth-grade students had a unique educational opportunity to engage in a virtual discussion with author Ben Mikaelsen, the writer of the acclaimed novel "Spirit Bear," which is widely read in English Language Arts (ELA) classes.

During the session, Mr. Mikaelsen shared the intriguing background story behind the creation of "Spirit Bear." He recounted his personal experiences braving the cold on the British Columbian islands, including a remarkable encounter with a Spirit Bear.
