Where Are The Now: Daniel Jones
Meet Daniel Jones, OCSD Class of 1982! After graduating from high school, Daniel attended Cornell University, earning a bachelor's degree in business management and marketing in 1986. He also obtained a gaming management certificate from Morrisville College.
Daniel has dedicated 31 years to Turning Stone Enterprises! He began as a blackjack dealer in their inaugural class in 1993 and opened with the Turning Stone Resort & Casino later that year. Over the years, he has held various positions, including Director of Player Development and General Manager of YBR Casino and Sportsbook in Chittenango. Currently, he serves as the Director of Guest Experience.
One of Daniel's favorite memories at OCSD is addressing the Senior Class, parents, and friends during high school graduation. Unlike the valedictorian and salutatorian, who were tasked with delivering weightier speeches, finishing third in his class allowed him to share his memories and experiences. Daniel cherished having friends in nearly every group in high school, and reminiscing about their time together meant a lot to him.
To future graduates, he leaves this advice: “Take your academic studies seriously, but always remember there will be many opportunities for you after high school to find what you are good at and enjoy. Find time for sports or clubs to give you the sense of being a part of something. Those friendships and experiences will serve you well. Also, know not every graduate has to go to college right away (or at all). There are so many opportunities if you start thinking about it early. Finally, without a doubt, the single biggest decision you will ever make in life is choosing a partner or spouse. Do not take that lightly, and find someone who is willing to do as much for you as you want to do for them without giving it a second thought. Don't be in a hurry to find that person. Take your time and be certain.”
