The Counseling Office is here to support both students and their parents/guardians.  Parents/guardians are encouraged to contact our office if there are concerns about the child's academic progress or emotional/mental/physical well-being.  Parent/teacher conferences are also set up through our office.
Students are encouraged to see the counselor if they have school concerns such as scheduling, academic achievement, or classroom related problems.  Also, the counselor sees students for a host of personal issues, including peer pressure, relationships, self-esteem, grief, and transitions.  If you sense your child is having trouble, call or email Mrs. Malgieri.

Schedules will be mailed out in the middle of August.  Please note, there are no schedule changes.  You will get another schedule either at the Open House or on the first day of school. Please follow this schedule and not the one that is mailed home.  School supplies lists are located on the this page, on the left side column.

6th Grade Orientation is Wednesday, August 29th, from 9:00-11:30am and 12:30-2:00pm.
6th graders are welcome to bring their schedules so they can walk around with an 8th grade tour guide and become familiar with the building.  They can also receive their locks at this time.

Open Houses:
Tuesday, September 4th for 7th and 8th graders, 6:00-7:30pm
Wednesday, September 5th for 6th graders, 6:00-7:30pm

School starts Thursday, September 6th.

Reminder:  Teachers are available to work with students during 10th period, every day with the exception of Wednesday.  If your child needs extra help or to make up work because they are absent, 10th period is an ideal time to do so.

Naviance is a career and college readiness program that the high school and middle school use.  Students can take a career interest inventory, explore careers and research colleges.  At OSMS, students will be introduced to it through their Home and Career classes in 6th and 8th grades. Students can access the program through the internet at home as well at https://www.naviance.com/
