Chronic Absentee Numbers Improving
Posted on 11/07/2019

A good attendance record can mean much more than a certificate at the end of the school year assembly. Attendance can be a predictor of student success for grade level reading and a precursor for drop-out prevention.

Last year we launched our Miss School Miss Out campaign, highlighting the importance of being at school every day. We are now two months into the school year and so far our attendance numbers have improved tremendously!

Current Chronic Absenteeism for each building: (November 5, 2019)
• OHS- 9.73%
• OSMS-8.40%
• Durhamville Elementary- 6.56%
• North Broad Elementary- 5.90%
• Seneca Street Elementary-7.10%
• Willard Prior Elementary- 7.27%

To give you an idea on how much we have improved. Here are the numbers from last year.

2018-2019 Baseline Chronic Absenteeism
Grades 1-8 - 13.8%
Grades 9-12 - 23.9%

Keep up the great work, Oneida! #WeAreOneida #Get2SchoolOneida
