Oneida School District Athletic Hall of Fame College Scholarship

(Deadline: June 7th)

A $500 award for one female and one male student:

 

  • Multi-sport athlete (participates in two or more sports each year throughout high school.)

•Someone who exemplifies good character and behavior and is an example for teammates to follow.

•A minimum GPA of 85 or above.

•Plans to attend college or trade school.

•Has participated in community service throughout high school.

Community Advantage Scholarship & Entrepreneurial Advantage Scholarship

(Deadline: June 15, 2019)

The online application is available at www.pricechopper.com/scholarships. It is available to any graduating seniors who reside in a Price Chopper or Market 32 marketing area.

Charles A. Strom Engineering Award (Deadline: May 8th)

The Mohawk Valley Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

(IEEE) will be offering $500 engineering awards to recognize and reward students who

demonstrate outstanding talent in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math)

and will enroll in a related field of electronic, electrical and computer engineering or

Engineering technology. Up to 4 awards will be provided.

Eligibility and Selection:

A minimum of four awards will be offered:

 College-bound high school senior(s)

 Attend high school in Oneida, Lewis, Herkimer, St. Lawrence, or Franklin counties, the township of Oneida

in Madison county, the village of Sherburne in Chenango county or the city of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada

 Will enroll in a related field of electronic, electrical or computer engineering

 

Rotary Club of Oneida- Nurse’s Scholarship Application

(Deadline: April 25th, 2019)

The purpose of the Rotary Nurse Scholarship Fund is to encourage and assist young men and women in entering the nursing profession to render service as nurses, particularly in Oneida and surrounding areas.

Value of Scholarship The total amount to be granted to each successful candidate is:

• $4400.00 for a registered nurse applicant in a 4 year program;

• $2200.00 for a registered nurse applicant in a 2 year program;

• $1,600. In total to a practical nurse program applicant.

Any student who qualifies for entrance in an accredited nursing education program is eligible to apply for a scholarship. Awards will be made to the extent that funds are available on the basis of character, scholarship ability, ability for nursing, and financial need. Preference will be given to residents of the Oneida area.

Mohawk Valley Counseling Association Scholarship (Deadline: May 10th, 2019)

Applicant must be a high school senior enrolling in a college or university and have a minimum 85 GPA.

Biological Science Award

(Deadline: April 10th, 2019)

1. Individual interested in medical field, preferable biology science/medical research

2. Individual that has a kind heart and enjoys helping others and strives to make a positive difference.

3. Student should be determined to achieve success.

4. Must submit an essay explaining his or her story and why he or she should be chosen for the Award.

Utica Roadrunners Scholarship

(Deadline: May 17th, 2019)

The student athlete must meet these standards:

  • has been an active member of their high school’s cross country and/or track teams in grades 11 and 12. The applicant should include career bests, athletic achievements, and athletic awards received.
  • has demonstrated academic excellence. The applicant should include academic awards, class rank, and possess a GPA of 2.5 or higher based on a 4.0 system.
  • has demonstrated community involvement and leadership qualities. The applicant should specify any non-athletic activities/clubs/organizations that benefit others.
  • has been accepted to an accredited two or four year college.

SWDGA Girls Golf Scholarship

(Deadline is May 1st, 2019)

Candidate is expected to have an acceptable scholastic record, active participation in golf and financial need. Other important considerations in the selection process are character of the candidate and motivation for higher education. The closing date for receiving the completed applications is May 1st, 2019. The recipient will be announced in late May or early June after interviews with the candidates.

Oneida Healthcare Foundation Scholarship

(Deadline: April 3rd, 2019)

Seniors who are above average academically. Active in community and extracurricular activities. Student who will enter accredited allied health program (excluding pre-med). Considerations: Nursing, x-ray tech, physical therapy, pharmacy, respiratory, occupational or physical therapy, lab technology, etc.

Don Hudson Memorial Scholarship (Deadline: April 8th, 2019)

This award will be presented to a student who has volunteered or plans to pursue work as a firefighter, civil service, or other area of public service. To apply, please write a brief essay explaining why you feel you should receive this award and what your college plans are, including school and major choice. Also please include what career path you are intending to pursue.

Dick Davis American Legion Scholarship (Deadline: 4/1/2019)

Student must be the child or grandchild of an American Legion member. Must submit an essay about the importance of military service. Open to all OHS seniors. Must be involved in community service. Student does not have to be attending college in the fall.

Hugh Boshart American Legion Post 1153 (Deadline: April 1st, 2019)

Student must be civic-minded, Honor roll student who has made a noticeable impact in their community with an organized project or volunteerism. Students must submit a written essay or no more than three paragraphs regarding their specific volunteer and/or community service and projects. Students must submit a letter of recommendation. Andrew D. Rossetti Scholarship

(Deadline: April 25th, 2019)

This year we will be giving away two scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each. This scholarship is for any students who are pursuing education. Awards will be made to students who demonstrate academic excellence, service to school and community, outstanding character, and significant academic improvement during the course of high school. MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARD WITH BIOLOGICAL

SCIENCES (Oneida Medical Associates)

(Deadline: April 5th, 2019)

Student entering college for pre-med, nurse practitioner or physician assistant studies. Student has a GPA of 90+. Click here for an application or stop in the counseling office.

The Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club (Deadline: April 5th, 2019)

The Oneida-Sherrill Lions Club is sponsoring a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from Oneida High School. This application is due in the Guidance office on April; 5th 2019

Criteria: A senior planning to pursue a degree in social work, special education, healthcare (especially in vision or hearing careers), public service (criminal justice, firefighting, etc.) or other field of study which will assist others or help to improve others’ lives. A senior who has been committed to service in their community and school (Leo’s Club or other service organizations either through Oneida High School or outside of school).

Harry J. Snyder Scholarship 2019 (Deadline: April 23rd, 2019)

Attach a letter addressed to the Harry J. Snyder Scholarship Committee explaining your future goals, educational goals, and why you are passionate about pursuing a career in criminal justice or environmental science. Click here for application or stop in to the counseling office.

Margaret King Moore Mayflower Prize (Deadline: April 30, 2019)

 

A prize in the amount of $1620 will be awarded to one high school student (junior or senior) based on his/her 500 word essay titled: “The Mayflower Pilgrims Contribution to Early American History”

Essays due to Mrs. Vaccaro in Guidance no later than April 30, 2019.

Durhamville A.N.M. Vetaran’s Club Scholarship (Deadline: March 26th, 2019)

Colleen Hyland Scholarship for Teaching (Deadline: April 5. 2019)

Candidate is a senior who will pursue a degree in Education – preferably social studies, government, or political science education (other majors in education WILL be considered). Eligible students will submit an essay about: Why they chose teaching as a career. What inspired them to want to teach. What they hope to accomplish as a teacher. And what their future plans and goals are. Submit essay to Counseling office no later than April 5, 2019.

 

RICK LEFEVRE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Deadline: April 27th, 2019)

The candidate must be a senior graduating in the spring term of 2019. The hockey player must have participated in the Rome Youth Hockey Association and the figure skater must have participated in the Rome Figure Skating Program, at the Kennedy Arena. Must be enrolling in a 2 or 4 year college or university during the fall term of 2019. The student does not have to be actively participating in skating this year.

Access Federal Credit Union Scholarship Program (Deadline: May 1, 2019)

Eligibility is open to all seniors who are ACCESS Federal Credit Union Members in good standing (excluding employees, Directors, Committee members, Volunteers, and their immediate families) who will attend an accredited college, university or other institution of higher learning during the next academic year on a full-time basis. Oneida County Volunteer Fireman’s Association, Inc. High School Scholarship (Deadline: May 1st, 2019)

Graduating senior who has a parent or grandparent that is a volunteer firefighter, belonging to an active fire department which is a member of the Oneida County Volunteer Fireman’s Association, Inc.

CNY Kennel Club Award (Deadline: March 30th, 2019

Applicants must be a high school JUNIOR, or SENIOR who reside in Oneida, Herkimer, or Madison counties who are involved with dogs. Particular interest is with students who volunteer at shelters, humane societies, and vet offices, students who are involved in the 4H program, students who work at animal related businesses, and/or those who show their own dogs in any performance or conformation events. This award is not based on academic achievement or financial need.

ROBERT WINTHROP CURLEY SR SCHOLARSHIP FOR JOURNALISM(Deadline: March 11th, 2019)

Scholarship to be awarded to a student that will be studying journalism or other form of writing career, also included: government/political science/law. 2 letters of recommendation are required, along with activity sheet/resume, GPA and class rank.

Seneca Street Elementary Scholarship: (Deadline: March 29th, 2019)

 

The Seneca Street Parent Teacher Organization and Faculty Association will be awarding two - $250 scholarships for graduating Oneida High School Seniors who graduated from fifth grade (the last grade offered at Seneca Street Elementary School).

American Society of Military Comptrollers (Deadline: February 28, 2019)

The ASMC Scholarships are for students entering the fields of Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Economics. Young Women in Public Affairs Award(Deadline: February 22, 2019)

 

Each year, the Zonta Club of the Oneida Area grants the Young Women in Public Affairs Award. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding young women who have shown exemplary leadership skills and are committed to the greater cause of the public service. The purpose of the award is to encourage young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.Click hereor stop in to the counseling office for an application. The local recipient of this award will receive $500 and will be entered to compete for the District YWPA Award of $1,000.

Oneida City School District Foundation Scholarship: DEADLINE APRIL 5TH, 2019

Scholarship Opportunity: Oneida City School District Foundation Scholarship Due April 5th
Applications will be available in the Guidance Dept. We are providing the same application form online at www.oneidacsd.org which you can access, fill in, print out, and sign. Click the District Foundation tab to find Student Scholarship information. Ask your counselor or Mrs. Vaccaro how to complete this form online. The activities resume` and essay will still need to be attached separately.
While this scholarship of $1,000 will be announced in June, the actual award will be given to the recipient at the beginning of second semester of the college academic year. This will provide the recipient an opportunity to prove his/her scholastic effort the first semester as well as protect any awards, grants, or scholarships given the recipient from other sources.


CNY Stem Scholars Program: DEADLINE MARCH 1, 2019

This scholarship program is open to graduating high school seniors who will be majoring in select STEM fields, starting Fall 2019. This years scholarship programwill provide tuition support and at least one paid summer internship at the participatingcompanies, pending business conditions. There is no financial eligibilityrequirement. Students attending a college or university in New York State majoring in the select STEM areas will be given preferenceduring the selection process. Finalists will be chosen based on academic merit, extracurricular activities, honors/awards, and an essay related to STEM. Recipientswill be determined by an in-person interview. Selections will be made in April and all applicants will be notified by May 1, 2019.
